Working with Couples

In couples therapy, the focus is on cultivating connection, deepening understanding, and reawakening compassion between partners. My approach honors the complexity of each individual within the relationship — the histories, patterns, and inner parts that shape how we love, communicate, and respond to one another. The goal is not simply to “fix” conflict but to illuminate the deeper needs and vulnerabilities beneath it, so that partners can rediscover a sense of safety, curiosity, and intimacy together.

Sessions often integrate emotionally focused and attachment-based approaches with Internal Family Systems (IFS) and existential inquiry. Through these lenses, partners learn to slow down reactive cycles, recognize protective parts, and attune to one another’s emotional worlds. The process invites each person to reclaim their authentic voice and learn to listen — not to defend, but to understand.

Whether working through patterns of disconnection, rebuilding trust after rupture, navigating transitions, or exploring alternative relationship structures such as polyamory, the work emphasizes transparency, consent, and mutual respect. Couples are guided to create new agreements rooted in shared values and to practice communication that fosters empathy and alignment rather than defensiveness or blame.

Ultimately, couples therapy becomes a sacred space for growth — a place to witness each other’s humanity, to evolve in how love is expressed and received, and to co-create a partnership that feels both secure and alive.
